There's always something
I went to work today hoping and praying that I could come home to new floors. I did, in a manner of speaking.
I got a call from Dick (our pastor and handyman) saying that the carpet didn’t hide the typical plywood flooring, rather concrete. And the concrete is not in good shape.
This means that instead of having the project completed on Wednesday or Thursday he needs to lay down a...
Flooring Poll Update
After much discussion, Emily and I have decided to go with the darker of the flooring options. If all goes according to plan, I should be able to pick the material up this weekend and it can be installed on Wednesday. I’ll be sure to post pics when it’s completed. Thanks for all the feedback!
First Dark Knight Rises Image (It's Bane!) →
Unbelievable story about how the first image from The Dark Knight Rises got released this morning:
Fans had to work Friday morning to reveal the first official image of Bane from The Dark Knight Rises. Along with Thursday’s unexciting press release announcing the beginning of production on Christopher Nolan‘s highly anticipated third part in his Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises, Warner...

Kitchen Update
This week we got the cabinet frames painted and put new paper on the shelves. It’s really nice having everything put back in its rightful place (with some organizational changes made by Emily).
The doors, however, are another matter. I totally messed them up. I primer’d them too heavily on the edges and it dribbled to the underside, forming some nice thick latex patches. Needless to...
Launching a Community
Last night we launched our new community group at the condo. We had 13 people show up, including my old coach (Jeff) and my new one (Ed) and his wife. It was a really cool night of establishing what a community is and what I’m supposed to do as the leader.
Best part of the night: After prayer and cheesecake we had some amazing conversation. I definitely see God leading us to becoming a...
Kitchen Upgrade
This last week has been filled with much work in the kitchen by Emily and me. Thankfully when we’re done it will transform from this:
To this:
I kid, I kid. Actually, we’re just painting the cabinets, but that has turned into a much larger ordeal than I imagined it would be. Sanding has been so much more of a pain than it should be. I’m hoping that they can get done soon,...

Amazing Joke
mrgan:
It’s not easy coming up with the best anything ever, but a joke I first heard ten or fifteen years ago still wins today. Here it is, the best joke I know:
Guy walks into the doctor’s office with a duck growing out of his head.
“My god,” says the doctor, “how did this happen?”
“Well,” the duck says, “it all started with this thing on my foot.”

A-Rod Finally Leads Rangers To World Series →
ARLINGTON, TX—Ten years after signing a record $252 million contract to play baseball in Texas, third baseman Alex Rodriguez finally delivered for the Rangers by leading the franchise to its first-ever World Series. “A-Rod came up big for us this entire series, all the way up until the last out,” Rangers manager Ron Washington told reporters during a postgame press conference, saying...

New TV
I got a new TV this week. Out goes my trusty, very color accurate 30” Toshiba CRT HDTV and in comes a ginormous, behemoth of a 50” Sony Grand Wega rearprojection TV. This TV was a gift from a really good friend, who got it from his neighbor. He gave it to me since it didn’t work at the time, and even diagnosed the part that it needed to be fixed. $80 and a couple hours later, it...

Finally, some clarity on church fonts →
1. If you are doing a sermon or series on the Old Testament, you have to use Papyrus, that ancient feeling font. This is the Gandalf of all fonts.

The iPhone 4 Ordeal
Today, my iPhone 4 arrived via FedEx. I found it on my desk waiting for me when I got out of a product demo to take a phone call. To tell the truth, it was hard to concentrate on the call a little bit. After all, I’ve been anticipating this new phone for almost a year now and it’s finally here.
I had prepared to set it up before it arrived. When I got to work, I backed up my old...
My new job
I’ve accepted a new position within my company (MicroK12), where I’ll move from the service department fixing computers to our sales department, doing inside sales and also filling the role of video specialist. Part of my new job will also be to create promotional videos spotlighting products for our website. We’ve never ventured into video production before, so I’ll be...
Bowling Tournament Today
I participated in my second 9 pin no-tap tournament at Robin Hood Lanes today. The format basically means that if you get 9 pins on your first shot, it counts as a strike. I did this last time in April, and missed the cut by 40 pins. Today, I did a lot better (211, 183, 208, 199) and made the cut.
During the final round, you bowl 2 games and the totals of those 2 games (with your league handicap)...

Apple and Google in a LOST size battle →
I really like this column comparing Apple and Google to the brothers from LOST. I watched the android presentation today from Google, and Iust admit that I love some of the things that Google is doing with cloud computing. The notification that sends a map straight to your device is great, and having your app data automtically sync to the cloud is fantastic. I’m still bought into the Apple...
